Deb McLeod is a writer, creative writing coach and story editor. She is the founder of The Writing Ranch where she teaches and coaches writers, owner of Ellis McLeod Publishing, Inc. that houses EMPress that publishes fiction and memoir and BestWay Books for nonfiction.
Deb has both an MFA and a BA in creative writing. She has been a creative writing coach for over fifteen years, served as adjunct faculty at both Finger Lakes Community College in New York State and Arapahoe Community College in Colorado. She taught at Writers and Books in Rochester, NY and ran the Pink Cadillac series for Colorado writers for five years. She has taught and facilitated writing seminars, workshops, writing circles and Writers Book Clubs. She has been a contest judge for Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers.
Her fiction and articles have appeared in The Virginia Quarterly Review, a literary magazine review from the University of Virginia, The Year of the Blue Jay, a literary anthology of short stories, The Talus Review, a Colorado literary magazine, TRAC Monthly, a national monthly newsletter she created, edited and wrote for public television programmers and Coaching Review, a magazine for life coaches. She has been a professional blogger and social media director. She created an internet marketing department for an IT company and has created and run successful internet marketing campaigns for businesses of all sizes in many industries.
Deb’s short story La Petite took an honorable mention in the national Writer’s Digest Short Story contest. She won the Denver Post/Tattered Cover short story contest, was a finalist in the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writer’s Colorado Gold contest and a finalist for a residency with the Rocky Mountain Women’s Institute.
She is currently working on an a Visionary Fiction thriller series set in New Orleans called The Julia Set.
